Dr. Patrice Hugo, Chief Scientific Officer at IQVIA Laboratories, leads the global scientific strategy and is responsible for the medical affairs and scientific activities for the Central Laboratories, and Specialty Testing Centers of Excellence worldwide including the Expression Analysis Genomics, Vaccine, Biomarkers and BioAnalytical/ADME laboratories. Prior to joining IQVIA Laboratories, Dr. Hugo was Associate Vice President and Chief Clinical Trial Scientist at LabCorp/Covance Central Lab Division and Chief Scientific Officer at Clearstone Central Lab acquired by LabCorp. Previously, he worked at Caprion as EVP R&D, and Principal Investigator at the Montreal Clinical Research Institute with academic affiliation at McGill University. Dr. Hugo obtained his Ph.D. in Experimental Medicine/Immunology at McGill University and held post-doctoral positions at the Walter and Eliza Hall Institute, Australia, and the Howard Hughes Medical Institute, USA. He is author or co-author of over 75 scientific manuscripts and has over 25 years of biomarker experience. He also played an active role in several industry organizations, including being a member of the Board of Directors for Personalized Medicine Partnership for Cancer in Quebec, and the Steering Committee for the Biomarker Factory. He is also a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) and the Society for Immunotherapy of Cancer (SITC).

Bob Bailer, Ph.D
Senior Director, Vaccines

Dr. Robert Bailer is the senior director of Vaccines at IQVIA Laboratories. In this role he oversees all aspects of the immunogenicity testing of vaccine products inclusive of the full assay life cycle from R&D through clinical testing. The range of assays in our Vaccine franchise spans PCR, antibody binding, and functional assays such as viral neutralization. Dr. Bailer has over 25 years of experience in the areas of viral immunology and vaccines. Most recently he served as the Director of the Immunogenicity Testing Laboratory at the NIH/NIAID/Vaccine Research Center for over 17 years. In this role he oversaw the immunogenicity testing for all VRC clinical trials of vaccine and broadly neutralizing antibodies. Dr. Bailer has in excess of 120 peer-reviewed publications.

Dr. Ken Lee

Dr. Ken Lee is Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Asia Pacific at IQVIA based in Singapore. Ken is a physician by training, acquiring a MBBS degree from the University of Melbourne. He worked as a clinician in both Australia and Malaysia before joining industry. In his current role, he is overall responsible for the safety and ethics of IQVIA clinical development projects in the Asia Pacific Region. In addition, Ken also leads the Medical Advisors/Directors, Contract Sales & Medical Solutions and Real World Solutions businesses for IQVIA in the Asia Pacific Region.

Prior to IQVIA, Ken held positions in sales and marketing, medical affairs and clinical development over a 10+ year career within the pharmaceutical industry with multinational organizations Bayer, UCB, Aventis and Sanofi-Synthelabo. Ken has worked in both local operational and regional/global strategic positions while being based in a number of countries including China, Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan, Germany and Australia. His experience covers a broad range of therapy areas, and in particular, oncology and central nervous system disorders. He has at various times covered Asia Pacific, Japan, Europe, Canada, Russia, Africa and the Middle East.

Dr. Paul Turner
Global Head of Medical Strategy, Infectious Diseases and Vaccines

Dr. Paul Turner is a Senior Medical Director and Global Head of Medical Strategy in the Infectious Diseases & Vaccines (IDV) Center of Excellence at IQVIA. He is board certified in Internal Medicine and Infectious Diseases and holds an active medical license in California.

Dr. Turner is currently the physician / subject matter expert for IQVIA’s response to the COVID-19 outbreak. In this role he has been advising companies both large and small on design of both vaccine and treatment trials for this unprecedented pandemic. As head of the IDV Center of Excellence, he is able to leverage additional IQVIA assets including Strategic Drug Development, Virtual and Hybrid trial design, Asia Pacific regulatory experts and our IDV Biostats group.

Paul has served as a medical and scientific advisor and safety physician on multiple clinical trials in the following indications: HIV, influenza vaccines, West Nile Virus vaccines, Hepatitis B and C, invasive fungal diseases, plague vaccines, anthrax vaccines, dengue vaccines, RSV treatment and vaccines.
